This is not spam. This is the short code that Twitter has registered with each Mobile Wireless Operator, if you signed up for Twitter then you must have enabled this in your Twitter account. create a text message with only the word STOP in the text and send it to the 40404 number. Btwy you can do this to any short code number. You should receive a text message back indicate that you have been removed and all text message should stop.

Most of these are probably from mother's who don't know how twitter works and saw a message from their kids' friend that had profanity or somethign in it, and the kid played dumb. You won't get these texts unless you sign up for twitter, and your child is playing you for a fool and it is working.

Call control does not stop these texts from popping up on my sprint galaxy 2s phone. Sprint does not block messages from 5 digit number either. V frustrating!

I don't even have a twitter account, and never have. The claim that it is twitter is bogus. As long as I keep getting these texts, I will continue to report each instance.
