On behalf of a dead relative, I have dealt with Portfolio Recovery before. They buy written-off junk accounts for a penny or two per account, then try to collect -- regardless of how many laws the have to break in the process. 1) Before they call, they're required by federal law to send a letter stating the amount due, the creditor, and other information. They haven't done that -- not to the address associated with the CELL PHONE they are calling. 2) If you get the letter, you can send a cease and desist letter back telling them to go bother someone else, and they must do that. In my case, the number they are calling is never given out to anyone, for any reason, who is not a very close friend or immediate family member. Which means, since I've had the number for ten years, they are either trying to collect on a debt which is past the statute of limitations, and not legitimately collectable. Unless, of course, it's actually a valid debt and the debtor is a deadbeat. The alternative explanation for the calls to my phone is that they simply have a wrong number. Well, that's fine. They'll never have an answer. Unless I get fed up. In which case, the answer will be in writing, and delivered by certified mail. The law provides for a penalty of $1,000 -- paid to the recipient of whatever illegal thing they've done, such as call after notification. Under some circumstances, this may or may not be $1,000 PER CALL.

Has been calling 3 to 4 times every day since 4/16/13 as unknown caller. Today they decided to show their number which was on block list already from 2 weeks ago that came thru while I was on another call. At least they have a job trying to collect uncollectibles. Wasted 46 yrs being creditworthy and then get layed off. They need to realize I don't have anything for them to take and I only fear God!!!

05/08/24 2:45 pm -again i get a call from this number, his time isa lady. Very rude - when i tell her that i am not the Olga she looking fo, her answer is "well your name is Olga", I told her this name is from russian descent, and very common in latin american countries, same as Mary in the USA, then she asked me if I would give her the last four digits of my SS, which I refused to give it to her, and said that if I did not do it she or they would keep calling me.

I have received several calls, from this number ald others, but it is always from the same compa "portfolio Recovery", if i am not home they will not leave who it is nor why, its always "personal matter" I know they are a collection agency, when I have talked I have told them numerous times that I am not the person they are calling, that they have the wrong person and that I do not have any pending debts. Some are sort or polite most of the callers are very rude, sometimes insulting without any respect. THe person that called today 04/30/2013 said to call him back -866=691-3568 Tronne Blackwell.

I just got a call from these poeple . And it was on my cell phones. I don't even know how they got my cell phone number or why they are callling this is not the first time they have called on my cell phone. Polfolio needs to stop calling my phone. I also know this company has many phone numbers they use. So, there is NO way to block them and if you ask them to stop calling they will use another number.
