My daughter, who is only 15, received text message alerts from Bank of America saying that her card was being used fraudulently. The only problem is - she does not have a Bank of America account and the text message was for someone else's name and account. Right after the texts, she received a call from this number. She didn't answer it. She sent me a screen shot of the text messages and the phone number that called her. I ran to Bank of America next to my office and the manager confirmed that it was a scam. He called the number and it was to accept an overseas collect call. Beware of this scam.

(315) 724-4022 Phone Call Reports
DEFINITELY SCAM. DID NOT GIVE INFO. CALLED BOA IMMEDIATELY, AND THEY CONFIRMED.
I just received a call from 315-724-4022. The number 315-724-4022 is the phone number on bank of america's website for their international fraud department BUT when you answer the call it states that their is fraudulent activity on your bank of america atm/debit card. The automated message states for you to call another number of 877-833-5617 WHICH IS NOT BANK OF AMERICA'S NUMBER. THIS IS A FRAUD. I called Bank of America to confirm and they stated that the number given is not theirs. The scam is when you call the fraudulent 877-833-5617 and enter all of your information from your atm/debit card, social security number, expiration date and the code on the back. It is then collected by the scammer and used else where with all of your correct information that you just provided by touch dialing it in to the key pad. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! THIS IS A SCAM!
I did have suspicious activity on my card just prior to this number calling. However, they kept calling after my card was deactivated and I spoke to claims department while at the bank. They asked for name and date of birth to person living withe, and then my log in information for my online banking. That sounds suspicious to me! I did not give any information to them!
I received a phone call from this number. I didn't pick up. Then I received a text alert from the bank that my debit card was limited and I had just gotten this new debit card last month. So I called the number back. I did not give them my debit card number because I was nowhere near my office to get my purse. I just gave them my SS# and my DOB to verify my identity. They listed my past transactions for today and yesterday. So I did believe that I was receiving a phone call from the bank. They transferred to the ATM Fraud department next. The lady did asked me for my husband's name and DOB just to verify my one and only ATM withdrawal with the correct date and location. I asked her if I would have to receive a new debit card like I did last month. She even gave me my old debit card number so I knew it was a legit call. I read all the reviews on this site and called the number on the back of the card. The BoA customer did verify that this is the ATM Fraud Protection Number. This is a legitimate number but I would say call BoA first and then verify the number calling you and then have them connect you to this department.
Whoever says that this # is valid and the scum on the other end of the line are for real is either and idiot or one of THE PEOPLE ON THE OTHER END OF THE LINE. This is a complete attempt at fraud!!!!!!
Valid but indifferent This number is their fraud protection department. I tried to pay online to my insurance company, info was submitted was valid and had enough funds, but the transaction was refused by BOA. I tried three more time thinking I may have entered something in wrong. Problem the same - refused. I then received a text from BOA about sketchy transactions taking place. I went back and changed payment type from debit to echeck and it went through fine. This is BOA fraud checking the 3 debit card transactions were me. Yes! they are, let me spend my money, this is a major insurance company not one for a block list BOA.
This is a LEGIT call from bank of america about a new debit card being sent out to me, I did receive legitimate documents in the mail advising me of the same thing i was told in the voicemail from this ph#. A new card with my photo on it was included in the packet.
On Monday the 6th I received an automated call from BoAs 800 number saying I would receive a new debit card because a merchant I had used my card at may have stolen info from my card. I got the new card on Tuesday, that's when the calls from the 315 number started. I just got another call from it. I would not answer the call, I instead called the 800 number on the back of my card. The gentleman I spoke with assured me that BoA would NOT call me from that number because it's their overseas number. In fact he said the number may have been highjacked. He explained to me that there is a device that thieves buy that allows them to make their phone number look like someone elses. He also said Boa will NOT ask for your ss# or birth date.
I got a call from this number and all they asked for was the date of birth of my husband because I was answering the call in regards to his debit card. They asked me to verify 2 transactions and I was online to see them as well, which both of them were legit. I then called BOA with the number on the back of my card and they verified that the call was also legit. He told me that thiefs aren't going to have transactions, with all the information, available to them. In the past, I made the mistake of giving out too much information and had a credit card opened in my name, color me the idiot, so I know not to do that again.
I receive the call twice in the morning and I came online to research and figure I should just call my bank. the customer service lady did not ask my full social but the last 4 digit. like the regular Q&A when you call your bank or credit card. I ask her was this a scam, she say the system picks up unusual activities and may txt, call or email to have us verify the transactions. she mentioned one resturant I swipe my card at and the 2 transaction at the same shopping store was what the system picked up as suspicious. it does feel weird since its the first time this happened. but I did called the number on the back of my card to verify that they did indeed try to reach me. I guess just to be safe. should always call the boa number behind your card instead of directly responding to any unknown txt, numbers, or emails
Got a very convincing call from this number today. The caller ID was odd: BANK,OF AMERICA and the agent was asking for too much info (which she did not get). I checked with the bank and there is no problem with my account. This is a scam.
I think it's scam also.. they call my skype number.. I'm not even in the US nor a US citizen, resident!
old disconnected BofA number. impersonates BofA.
I believe this number is legitimate for two reasons: 1) I received a call from this number a day after I received an email from BoA regarding a potentially fraudulent charge. And this email was received after I made an on-line purchase. So the timing and the caution seemed right. and 2) This number actually IS on the back of my BoA Debit Card!
This was actually NOT SPAM. I'd received a text from BofA earlier and thought that was spam, too. When I got this phone call, I went through the hoops but got suspicious because of this page. So I called BofA's 800 number to see what was up, and everything sounded the same -- same hold music, same sales pitch, same everything. Most telling: when I finally got through to an actual human, it was the SAME person who I'd just talked to when the phone showed this number!! So yeah, this is legit. HOWEVER -- it is entirely possible that some of y'all are getting scammers who spoof the phone number. So I recommend that if you get called by this number, call BofA yourself and see what's up.
I've never had a bank account with boa just lines of credit so I know it's a scam about a debit card! Not worried but they call 3times a day and text
315-724-4022 called saying from BOA which is where we have out accounts. I did not give out any information becasue they called me on my cell. I have never given BOA my cell number. This is fraud and when I called the number back it says it is an overseas call. Don't call it! My bank said to block the calls but obviously if this has been going one for awhile as far back as 2010 and nothing has been done? They also have our email address and not sure how they got that! Nothing is secure anymore.
Received call claiming to be Bank of America that my ATM card had fraud charges asked personal info..told me to hold on than hung up on me. I called the number right back and was told it was an oversea number. I called the 800# for Bank of America Fraud department and made a report. If this has been reported since 2010 why hasn't Bank of America done anything about it??
they said there was irregular activity to my account when there was none call the number on the back of your card
Called me Jan 1st, woke me up posing as BOA stating there was faudulant activity on my BOA account. They asked for my SS#, drivers license and birthday got it!! I feel so stupid!!They appear so legitamit the whole automated system mimics BOA's system. The area code is based in utica NY, so I called them back to check if they really were BOA realized it was a scam and got very scared!! So am now going through the processed to protect myself.
