We've received 8-10 calls in the last three days from this number. All that we get when we answer is a robot voice saying "Goodbye," and then it hangs up. Getting really creepy, I wish I knew how to make it stop.

I have now had 10 calls in the last 2 days from this number tonight for the third time I answered it, some person calling from India told me I have to turn on my computer because they have to remove a virus from it I responded by telling them I knew it was a scam and I was reporting them. They refused to identify who they were and hung up on me. If you get a call from them please report it to the following website https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov Caller: No Name Given

said we had computer problems. I hung up and they have re-called up to 3 times in a day. We have told them not to call again.

This number is used by a wide variety of phone phishers and anyone who "spoofs" the true originating number can use this number. You will notice many other people getting calls from this obvious illegitimate number, recently a company called me to tell me my Microsoft computer was talking to him and telling him there was a problem. First of all, it is aimed at people that know little about computers, and it is a numbers game. Sooner or later they will get someone to believe it is legitimate. After all, aren't most technical support specialists working in an Indian call center? OK maybe not but I found the best thing to do was to either say they you have no computer or say you use an Apple. I got this on my land-line and took my cell and asked him just a second, pushed a button to make the tone noise and then said after 5 seconds, OK, I am recording this please continue. They never called me back.

I forgot to mention these callers typically try to get you to install P2P (peer-to-peer) or other malicious software that enables them to control your computer remotely. Never do this unless you yourself initiated the call to a legitimate Microsoft support specialist.

Exactly what happened to me. I asked him to call back and then checked it out. I knew this was a scam, too. Spread the word, because someone will fall prey to this and have real problems.
