It's really easy.  Just type in the telephone number that showed up on your caller ID in the search box and information about who possibly could be calling from that number will be displayed, including a list of user comments displayed which contain information about the person or company calling from that number.  You can leave your comment if you have unique information to add and make available to others.

Where does your caller identification information come from?
We receive data from a number of sources including Information contributions and submissions from users, telephone directories, public data sources and Governement information.

Are all telephone numbers contained within EveryCall.us associated with telemarketers, scams, etc?
Not necessarily.  Many telephone numbers are from legitimate businesses with legitimate reasons for calling you.  Our goal is to help you determine who's calling you if the caller ID information is missing or if the caller didn't leave a message; so we try to provide the most complete listing of numbers including business listings and pay phones which aren't associated with telemarketing.

What information should I include in my call comment?
At a minimum, you should include the telephone number from your caller ID, the call type (telemarketing, prank, etc.), and as much information you can collect about the caller as possible.  When you are talking to the telemarketer, make sure to get the company name, address, website, and any other details that you can share with the EveryCall community.  Just make sure that you're honest with what you post online.

I searched for a telephone number and there are no comments yet.  What should I do?
If a number isn't in our database yet, you can be the first to add your comments.  Leave as much information as you can about the caller, or simply leave a comment asking for others to help.  You'd be surprised how quickly people will respond once your request is posted.

How can I see all of the call comments on a Google Map?
Each call comment is mapped on a Google Map so that you can see what parts of the world are receiving telephone calls from a particular telephone number.  There is a "Show Map" link on every call comment page which you can click to display the map.

What is comment voting?  Why should I vote?
Comment voting is an essential function to EveryCall.us.  By clicking on the thumbs up or thumbs down buttons located on each comment, you can help control which comment is the best appears at the top of the page so that others can find the best information quickly.  Alternatively, if you find a comment to be not helpful, you can vote thumbs down and that comment will be higlighted in red so that users know to avoid that comment.

Call Control General Questions

What is Call Control?

Have you ever wished that a telemarketer or robo-caller would ‘just stop calling’?  Enter Call Control, the first ever intelligent Call Blocking application that ‘knows’ which calls to block, stopping spam callers dead in their tracks.  Think of it as a spam filter for telephone calls.  Call Control is continually updated with a “Community Blacklist” of spam callers (containing over 250,000 callers) to ensure that unwanted callers are not allowed to call your Blackberry.

What makes Call Control better than the other call blocking apps out there?

Call Control blocks calls before they ring, while other call blocking applications block calls only after they ring.  Other apps require the user to manually add each telephone number they want to block to the black list, which requires that a.) you know what number to enter and b.) manual data entry.

Call Control contains a huge Community Blacklist of spam callers and blocks them automatically before they ring.  We think the point is to stop these calls without them ever ringing and require no involvement from the user, which other applications simply can’t do.

What is the Community Blacklist?

The Community Blacklist by EveryCall.us is an enormous database containing telephone numbers of spam callers.  The Community Blacklist is comprised of user reports and comments, Government Do-Not-Call complaints and reports from other Call Control users.  The Community Blacklist is continually updated with new spam callers keeping users protected against new spam callers.

But I’m on the Do-Not-Call list, why do I need Call Control?

The Do-Not-Call list does a decent job of reducing some spam calls, but it doesn’t eliminate all of them.   A Harris poll reports that 73% of American’s registered on the Do-Not-Call list still receive telemarketing calls.  Plus political calls and some other forms of telemarketing are allowed even to telephone numbers registered on the Do-Not-Call list.  And obviously telephone scammers and robo-dialers aren’t going to play by the rules.

Call Control does what the Do-Not-Call list can’t by stopping unwanted calls completely, including calls from scammers, phishing schemes, political surveys, debt collectors and other callers which have been identified as spam callers.

How can I download and install Call Control?

To download Call Control, visit http://www.everycall.us/store/ from your computer or Blackberry internet browser to download Call Control Lite free or to buy Call Control Pro.  Either way Call Control can be downloaded and installed Over-the-Air (OTA) directly from your Blackberry.

Can I report calls to EveryCall.us from my Blackberry?

Yes.  We’ve made it easy for Call Control users to report spam calls directly from their Blackberry.  By reporting spam callers, you not only expose the callers but you also increase the quality and breadth of the Community Blacklist.

Does Call Control have a Blacklist and Whitelist?

Yes.  Call Control features a local, private Blacklist and Whitelist that is not shared.

When I install Call Control, the Blacklist is empy, is this thing working right?

Yes!  The Blacklist option from the main menu is for numbers that you've added only.  Spam callers from the Community Blacklist are not listed in this menu.

Does Call Control block Unknown or Private callers?

Yes.  Callers with Private/Blocked/Unknown caller ID are blocked.  This setting can be enabled or disabled easily from the settings menu.

How can Call Control save my minutes?

Spam calls are not only annoying but they also waste minutes.  Call Control blocks spam callers and reduces the number of minutes that are wasted answering these unwanted calls.

What happens when calls are blocked?

Largely blocked calls are sent to voicemail, however this behavior varies by carrier.  Call Control disconnects the call before it rings.

Does Call Control make my phone ring once like ‘other’ call blocking apps?

Nope.  We’ve made sure that the phone DOES NOT ring at all when calls are blocked!

What if a safe number gets blocked?

If a call you were expecting was blocked, either by your personal blacklist or the Community Blacklist you can simply add the number to your white list to solve this problem.  You can see which calls have been blocked by accessing the “Blocked Call Log” from the main menu.  Select the number, click the application button and select “Add to white list”.

How do you select callers for the Community Blacklist?

Callers are included in the Community Blacklist which have met certain criteria based upon reports from Call Control users, EveryCall.us users and government Do-Not-Call complaint information.
