TechDirt reported today that the 9th Circuit Appeals Court has ruled that unsolicited text messages to mobile telephones are indeed covered by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
The court ruled that unsolicited text messages are considered to be covered by the provision governing “automatic telephone dialing systems” and thus subjected to the rule of law.
The Consumerist has reported that AT&T Mobility is has filed a lawsuit in Federal Court to learn who is behind automated telephone calls to AT&T subscribers. AT&T claimes that the telephone number 800-219-7425 is behind over 13 million telephone calls to AT&T subscribers.
