TechDirt reported today that the 9th Circuit Appeals Court has ruled that unsolicited text messages to mobile telephones are indeed covered by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

The Consumerist has reported that AT&T Mobility is has filed a lawsuit in Federal Court to learn who is behind automated telephone calls to AT&T subscribers.  AT&T claimes that the telephone number 800-219-7425 is behind over 13 million telephone calls to AT&T subscribers.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against Dish Network this morning for allegedly violating the Federal Do Not Call laws by calling consumers who are on the registry.

In 2004 the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) amended the Telemarketer Sales Rule (TSR) to require that caller ID information, including telephone number and company name where possible, be transmitted with every call made to consumers.
The amended rule specifically states telemarketers can either:
