The New York Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about Robocalls which promise to lower credit card debt and reduce or eliminate payments. The nature of the telephone calls, often reported to EveryCall.us, offer to reduce credit card debt and require a high up-front payment in exchange for services.
Many EveryCall.us users have also reported that these calls are also accompanied by a variety of phishing schemes which try to bilk personal information from the consumer being called.
The top three offenders identified by the BBB are:
CSTR Solutions, Inc.
Genesis Capital Management
Mutual Consolidated Savings
We recommend proceeding with extreme caution if you receive telephone calls from any company offering to reduce your credit card debt or monthly payment. Often times you can negotiate with your lender, without the need for a 3rd party. And because of the possibility that the caller could be attempting to scam and defraud you, it is always a prudent practice to work only with reputable companies that are in good standing with organizations like the BBB (you can look up companies or charities here).
