UPDATE.........I got a call back from a manager in the Fraud Department at Verizon today and he confirmed that the 1-800-249-2462 and 206-315-3010 belong to the Varolii Corporation. He stated that Verizon's Financial Services has outsourced to Varolii to contact Verizon customers that have past due amounts owed. This company guarantees Verizon that they will get the customers to call them back through creative ways of wording their messages. This Fraud Manager at Verizon apologized over and over again to me that I had to spend numerous hours this week trying to resolve the issue and was very sorry that Verizon kept telling me it was a phishing scam. IT IS NOT A PHISHING SCAM!!!! DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU THAT!!!!! He said that he is going to escalate this up his management chain to find out why Verizon is misleading their customers and using this 3rd party company to send deceptive messages such as "there has been a recent change to your account , please call Verizon within 24hours." I asked for him to call me back within a week to let me know what the outcome was from his escalation. He promised me he would call. This is the first person in over 7 hours of communication with Verizon this week that has been forthright and honest and actually very contrite. Thank you VERRRRY MUUUUCH MATT!!!!! With the constant threat of fraud and phishing scams that consumers have to deal with in this day and age, it is just completely WRONG that Verizon would choose to mislead their customers in such a way to collect payments. People are being contacted that do NOT even have past due amounts. Other companies use this Service so if you do not have Verizon, and are getting calls / texts from these numbers it is NOT A PHISHING SCAM. They are attempting to collect money!
